I’ve spent the past couple of months working on two things: updating Geomex and writing prototypes.
Geomex will be receiving a pretty major update. I’ve left the game itself untouched, and instead added features around it. Online Hiscores is the first feature. I figured Geomex is more fun when it’s a bit competitive. During development my lead tester and I would get crazy competitive! I wanted to bring that feeling to everyone, and on a global scale.
The other addition is Achievements. I had lots of fun coming up with, testing and naming these. Similar to Online Hiscores, I hope Achievements will get friends into that competitive spirit. Also, achievements are a nice way for me to encourage the player to try out features that may otherwise get overlooked. In this case, there are a few mode-specific and chaining related achievements.
I’m not sure when this update will be pushed out, but it should be within the next month or so. I’m still busy polishing it up and tweaking the user interface.
So that’s Geomex: Online Hiscores to share your scores with the world, and Achievements for bragging rights.
Next up, prototyping. After DUOtrix was done and dusted, I tried to take some time off to just “chill”. That lasted for all of three days!
I’ve been doing light prototyping work for a couple of months (in-between work on Geomex and the site) and it’s been coming along pretty well.
I haven’t settled on a project yet, but all signs point to another iPhone release. I’ve got a pretty neat idea, but there are still technical issues I need to get over.
