Geomex announced, development blogged on twitter
So Geomex, then. That the follow-up to Smiley is a puzzle game might come as a shock, but I'm a developer who likes to dabble with lots of genres.
I've described Geomex as "Bejeweled + Tetris + combo system + a lot of awesome", which seems like a fairly accurate description. It is being developed for the iPhone + iPod touch, and should be released very soon.
I've decided to blog its development, but as a weird experiment I've decided to do so on Twitter. For those who don't know, Twitter is a service that allows people to stay connected through messages that are 140 characters or less. For me, this is a perfect blogging system because I can make quick updates (straight from my iPod even!) to document my progress without slowing down development by writing long rambling posts. Kinda like this one. :)

Smiley updated, still smiling
After much work, Smiley has been updated. Most of the changes have been based on feedback I've received from some of you, so thanks for that.
Smiley's Shooty Adventure v1.02 includes the following changes:
- Added triple damage powerup
- Maximum bonus score for time is over nine thousand
- Added restart option to the in-game menu
- Default controls for a new profile are now KEYBOARD+MOUSE 1. I found that new players were most comfortable with this control scheme
- Textboxes are more intuitive to use
- Wrote a license.txt file
- Mac: Support for PowerPC Macs
- Mac: screenshots are stored in the save folder (/Users/Shared/Smiley's Shooty Adventure Saves)
- Bugfix: Using "exit to menu" while Smiley spawned in didn't work
- Bugfix: If there were many powerups on screen, picking one up didn't upgrade the others
To update your copy, just go to the Smiley page, download it for your platform of choice, and install it again. Your save files, profile data, etc will be left intact as long as you install it into the same folder.
Enjoy!
